;Seepage may cause geological disasters, such as ground subsidence and landslides. The study of seepage is of help to understand the failure mechanism and the countermeasures of seepage-induced disasters. This study mainly adopts the Hele Shaw Model to explore the seepage characteristics with different slope. Both commercial detergent and silicone oil were used to conduct experiments under different conditions of temperature, slope, and upstream water depths. Aluminum powder was used to traced the velocities at different locations, and the velocity profiles agrees well with theoretical prediction. Both transient and steady seepage surface were analyzed by using both detergent and silicone oil. Dimensionless forms of steady discharge and the transient advancing seepage front as a function of aspect ratio, slope and hydraulic conductivity are proposed based on conceptual models, and the results agrees well with experimental data.
