    摘要: 本研究計畫「液晶調制微週期波導之研製與光纖雷射之應用」目的在於開發光纖雷射相關之先進液晶調制微週期光波導元件,以達成建構於新穎光柵和/或特殊光纖之前瞻元組件研製及應用的目標,預計分兩年時期執行。本計畫的價值及創新性在於有別於採用基於傳統光纖的方式,我們自行設計液晶調制之新穎微週期光波導,並探討其色散特性來應用在光纖雷射系統中,同時探討液晶的引入對其模態及能隙的調變之有趣現象。由於本研究計畫所開發可調式微波導光柵是基於先前既有技術所延伸發展的,具有實用性及可行性,而對液晶相位的掌控和量測技術之開發對產業發展可具相當貢獻。本研究計畫藉由其他子計畫之協助取得光纖雷射之光源、拉伸光纖、寬頻光源,並預計提供波長可調之反射式濾波器、液晶波片及光柵設計模擬技術。預期目標及特性成果為:開發可調式微週期光波導、精確控制液晶空間相位分布、波導色散特性之設計及應用及液晶對超短脈衝橫縱模調制研究,並致力於將所開發出之先進液晶調制光波導元件應用於光纖雷射系統。 The purpose of this present research project “Development of liquid crystal modulated periodic micro-waveguides and application in fiber lasers" is to design and fabricate advanced liquid crystal modulated periodic micro-waveguide devices in order to attain the goal of investigation and application on novel fiber gratings and/or special fibers based optoelectronics devices. The duration of this project is two-year. The innovative value of this project is using liquid crystal to modulate the novel micro-waveguide, which is different from the traditional fiber technology, and investigating the dispersion characteristics to apply in fiber laser system. The interesting phenomenon on modal and bandgap modulation due to the introduction of liquid crystal will be studied simultaneously. This project is practical and feasible because it is based on our previous research results. Controlling the liquid crystal orientation and developing phase measurement technology is also potentially advantageous to the industry. This research project is beneficial from other sub-projects for their help of providing fiber laser source, tapered fiber and broadband light source. On the other hand, this project plans to contribute wavelength-tunable filter, liquid crystal waveplate and fiber grating simulation method. The expected research results are developing tunable waveguide grating, accurately controlling liquid crystal spatial distribution, designing and applying the waveguide dispersion and exploring ultrashort pulse propagation and modal change resulted from liquid crystal modulation. Hopefully our new liquid crystal modulated periodic micro-waveguide devices can be successfully utilized in the area of fiber laser system. 研究期間:10008 ~ 10107
